This classes discusses education as propaganda as outlined in Dr. Carter G. Woodson's classic book, Mis-education of the Negro, published in 1933 but still relevant nearly 100 years later. Students read excerpts from Mis-Education of the Negro and analyze them in modern times. To what extent are Dr. Woodson's observations about the nature of public education as it pertains to Black people still true? It also provides ways to spot propaganda and list other Black historians who have worked to expose the negative propaganda about Black people embedded in public school books and curriculum.
