This class chronicles the history of ancient Nubia, which preceded the founding of ancient Kemet (Egypt). It explores the complex relationship between Nubia and Egypt and the contributions to civilization that they each made. Many scholars incorrectly labeled them as opposing civilizations, pointing out that Nubia was at many times conquered by Kemet. This class also provides a history of the re-discovery of ancient Nuba in the 1820s and the assertion in the 1840s by German egyptologist, Karl Richard Lepsius, that the people of ancient Nubia were not from the African race, but from the Caucasian race, which we know is false.
